The Gray Little League season finished up on June 19 with two big wins. The Gray Sunbirds defeated the New Gloucester Reds for the GNG Little League Softball Championship and the Gray Red Sox edged the New Gloucester Braves in the Town Line Classic. Sandwiched in between was a closing ceremony at Douglas Field where Gray Little League took the time to thank its many sponsors and make sure every player was recognized with a participation award and a Sea Dog Biscuit.

In the first game, the Sunbirds beat the Reds in a game closer than the 9-1 score would indicate. The Sunirds scored eight runs in the first three innings. Then pitcher Kiersten Stritch, who recorded 12 strike-outs in the six-inning game, and strong defense held off a rally by the Reds in the late innings.

Later, the Red Sox held on for a 2-1 victory over a very talented and well coached Braves team to bring the Town Line Trophy back to Gray. The pitchers duel ended with a burst of celebration when the home Red Sox recorded the final out. "The New Gloucester Braves had a nearly perfect season and they deserve high praise," said Sox manager Scott Gallant. "The Braves are a talented and well coached team, but that day I guess we were better."
